I am determined to keep this post simple. My name posts can get long and wordy, but her name is simple and sweet... And perfect for her!
Leah Faith Zhimin.
Leah: Though it is an English spelling (and pronunciation), her name is derived from the Chinese characters 丽 (Li) and 雅 (Ya). Li means "beautiful" and Ya means "elegant". So, Leah: beautiful and elegant.
Faith: Well, the word itself is fairly self-explanatory. I could dive deeper into the whole backstory of us and adoption and how God put my Chinese daughter on my heart years ago, and we have been walking in faith all this time to get to her... but I'm keeping it simple for now, right? Faith. The "assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen." (Hebrews 11:1)
Zhimin: Her Chinese given name. In Mandarin, Zhi means "wisdom," and Min means "quick, clever, agile."
So, she's got a name! And I love it! And I love her! And can I get on a plane yet?
If you ask Asher her name, he will tell you it's Princess Leia. Like Star Wars. He named her that before he had any clue what we were naming her. He's mildly disappointed that we didn't take his suggestion.
Benjamin only calls her by her full name. Leah Faith Zhimin Green. If I mention Leah, he says, "you mean Leah Faith Zhimin Green?"
And Zach? Well, he still calls her Nana. Because he is stubborn. Although he is perfectly capable of saying both Meimei and Leah, he insists on saying "Nana" whenever he sees her picture. Oh well...
She looks like a Leah, doesn't she?
