If you've never read Katie's blog before, it's amazing and inspiring! God is doing HUGE things through one girl who is willing to obey. I have to quote the most recent post though, as it puts into words exactly what I have been wanting to say to so many people who say what nice people we are for adopting. Of course, we are doing this because we want to have Didi come home, and we are excited to have him, but there's another side to it.
Katie writes: My family, adopting [this child], it is not optional. It is not my good deed for the day, it is not what I am doing to “help these poor kids out.” I adopt because God commands me to care for the orphans and the widows in their distress. I adopt because to whom much has been given, much will be demanded. I adopt because whoever finds his life will lose it but whoever loses his life for HIS sake will find it."
