We've been here in Guangzhou for a few days now. It's really nice! The weather has been much more pleasant than in Beijing or Zhengzhou, which means we've stayed outdoors as much as possible. Plus, Shamian Island, where our hotel is, is a really pretty place to wander around and haggle with shopkeepers offering us "good quality hand made one of a kind items."
In the meantime, Asher's visa paperwork has been delivered to the US Consulate (the actual reason we're in this city... not just for the shopping) and he had his "medical exam" the other day. We take the oath at the Consulate this afternoon, and then just wait for his US visa to come through on Wednesday before heading out on a late flight.
This hotel is swarming with adoptive families. It's been a little strange actually, to go from the security of our little band of 8 or so families that we've been with all along, to a giant sea of American grown ups with Chinese babies. But the upside is that the hotel is really kid-friendly. They have a much nicer playroom than Zhengzhou, and you can see from the pictures that little man has enjoyed that!
Yesterday, we went on a tour of a Bhuddist temple, and an Arts & Crafts museum-type house. They also took us to a very overpriced market. So, we skipped the shopping there in favor of the local shops. It was very interesting to see the sights though.
I'm going to try to upload a few more shots now. They boys are both napping at the moment. In a little while, we're heading off to a fish market that has cobras and other exotic animals to see.
In general Asher news, he's doing well. Ate his own breakfast with a fork this morning, which was very exciting! He still has the typical snotty nose and other cold-y symptoms that come along with any small kid who has been around other small kids for any period of time, and he had a fever last night, but seems to be over that this morning. He has super sensitive skin, and we'll have to do a little digging around at home to figure out exactly what it is that seems to set it off. Otherwise, he's happy and content, as long as Josh and I are nearby. He's energetic and in to everything all the time. He enjoys hitting things with other things. Delightful. I may henceforth call him "Smasher." (Note: I may henceforth call him that. You may not. Just clearing that up. I can do that. I'm the Mommy.)

Almost home!!!! YAY!!! I think all the kids have a skin reaction at some point... both of our girls had rashes at first, which cleared up pretty quickly.
