Earth to Green-land! Anybody home?
As you can plainly see, I haven’t blogged in over a year. I
state that fairly unapologetically. I can’t explain why at all, but for some
reason, something in my head changed on our trip to bring Zach home, and I just
didn’t feel like sharing all my thoughts on the internet anymore. Combine that
with 5 kids and homeschooling, and it leaves little time or incentive to blog.
Most days I have no words left to share by the time the house is settled and
quiet enough in the evenings to actually sit down and get on a computer. I know
that there are plenty of moms out there who manage all this and more and still
post regularly, but I just can’t keep up with it all. Something had to give,
and it was this.
But we are long overdue for an update.
Life goes on and children grow and things change and
progress. The boys are doing great! Asher had p-flap surgery last fall – for cleft-related
issues- and his speech has improved drastically! He still has speech therapy twice
a week and has a long way to go, but he is able to make so many sounds he never
could before.
Zach is also doing really well. He goes to speech twice a
week with Asher, and is s-l-o-w-l-y making progress. He is actually able to
make all the sounds that Asher couldn’t. He just doesn’t feel like being
bothered with the effort that words require. He’d much rather point, grunt, and
whine “Ma-MAAAAAAAAAA” in reference to just about anything. His adjustment
process has been different from Asher’s, which makes total sense because he’s a
totally different little person! He is a sweet little guy though, and loves to
be affectionate.
We’ve joined up with a homeschool community that meets weekly.
The kids have all enjoyed seeing friends and making new ones, and learning all
sorts of interesting things from their tutors. It’s been great!
And, if you haven’t heard, we are going back to China…
again! We started the process for Little Green-lander #6 last fall. More news
to come about that soon! For now, we’ve been plugging along the Paperchase
trail, which has flown by fairly seamlessly by the grace of God!
So, we appreciate your prayers for our whole crew as we
prepare our hearts for more changes and more blessings to come as we add yet
another little person to this crazy mix!
