Another big milestone today! We received our I-800 provisional approval from USCIS. More letters and numbers, I know.... but this time it means that the US immigration service has granted us permission to adopt Didi. Previously, the I-797 approval gave us permission to adopt an immigrant child, but this one is necessary to bring this specific child in. So, it's another step forward.
Still several things have to take place before he gets to come home. I won't bore you with all the details right now... mainly because I still feel like I'm only beginning to understand them all, despite the efforts of at least a dozen people to explain it to me. My brain has hit a wall, it seems. Anyway, rest assured that we are getting closer. I'm getting really excited! The idea of getting on that plane doesn't seem so distant anymore. Still looks like December could be a real possibility. We're kind of hoping that it actually does line up with Christmas break at this point, because that way the Grandmas won't have to take off as much work for our childcare needs, but we'll see. God's clearly got it all timed out just right. We just sit back, wait, and watch it all unfold.
In the meantime, we start our several weeks of Showing Hope with a "Night With the Chapmans" concert this weekend, some volunteer work at another concert of theirs in a couple weeks, a fundraiser weekend thing for them in Nov, and then some sort of Orphan Sunday stuff at church at some point. Super exciting opportunities... guaranteed blog posts to follow... and a very very long one on my search for the perfect name for this kid also in the works, you lucky readers! ;)
